Trey Barnes

Trey Barnes, Chairman and Co-Founder of Capital Strategy Ltd, is a U.S. citizen with permanent residence in the UK. Mr. Barnes has 20 years’ experience providing public affairs, government relations, management consulting and business development services for an international client portfolio.

Mr. Barnes is a recognized leader on political matters within the U.S. expat community and his prior consulting firm served as a principal sponsor of the American European Institute transatlantic policy forum www.americaneuropeaninstitute.com. He also previously volunteered as Executive Director of Conservative Friends of America a recognized organization affiliated with the UK Conservative Party. In 2008, he co-founded Americans Abroad for Hillary which focused on maximizing Hillary Clinton’s share of votes in the Democratic Presidential Primary from the approximately 6 million US expats (excluding military) living abroad. Mr. Barnes served on the Advisory Board of the UK’s YouGovStone, a company specializing in opinion surveys, brand intelligence, and in-depth research utilizing a pre-eminent influencer network. He remains active in various UK Conservative Party affiliated organizations as well as Democrats Abroad (UK).

During his career, Mr. Barnes has founded and served as a principal in several successful government relations, management consulting and business development consulting headquartered in Washington, DC and London. One of his prior firms was acquired by Cassidy and Associates, the largest government relations entity in Washington, DC. While at Cassidy, Mr. Barnes served as one of the co-directors of the Technology and Internet practice group, assisting both established and start-up technology companies in securing federal funding and contracts as well as providing strategic advice and advocacy on key policy issues. He has extensive experience in providing public policy and business consulting services to global corporate, public, and non-profit clients. He regularly consults with leading Internet, digital media, communications, healthcare, security, energy, clean and green tech, financial services, and transportation companies and organizations. The focus of Mr. Barnes’ public policy experience is very diverse and includes work in Internet/Technology/ Communications/Intellectual Property, Appropriations/Federal Marketing, Employment Relations, Healthcare, Defense, Homeland Security, Energy, and Financial Services.

A Louisiana native, Mr. Barnes is a graduate of Louisiana State University and the LSU Law School. Mr. Barnes worked for, then, United States Senator J. Bennett Johnston (Democrat—Louisiana) while in undergraduate studies at LSU.

Mr Barnes serves on the MODUS Board of Directors.
